It's hard to believe it's been over a month since our Fantabulous Retreat! I think about you wonderful bunch of writers every day and wonder what everyone is up too. I heard it expressed several times over the weekend that the retreat had really energized some writers who had been needing a little motivation to write.....I remember that because I had been feeling the same way.....so I'm just curious....are you still motivated? Have you been doing anything differently in your writing life since you got back home?
I will share that one thing that I've done and managed to stick to for the month was a goal to have a writing night every week. I have been dedicating Thursday nights to my songwriting....whether it is working on a song, recording a demo, or just sitting at the piano and playing.
OK....so, what are YOU up too?

Great post, Bev. I definitely am still staying motivated. AND the surprising outcome of the retreat weekend for me was that I'm venturing into some new genres and styles of writing. Another thing that changed my process was the great feeling of *finishing* a song (worktape and all) in a timely manner, which I'm trying to do with every song now (instead of stopping when I get stuck). I am still inspired by the diverse group of talented writers from that weekend. Thanks everyone,
Allie
Hi Donna,
I am still very inspired by what took place at the retreat. I took Joel's advice to make myself do something everyday with my music. I do something even on Sunday because while the pastor is preaching I have my note pad out and I'm writing every catchy phrase or sermon title looking for "the song."
I was inspired by all of the great people who attended the retreat. We came from so many different walks of life but there we were all out for one common goal...to craft a great song! That was so awesome! I'm looking forward to reading what everyone else is up to! Blessings!

Hey Donna! I haven't been as disciplined but I did wrap up a few co-writes that were long over due. I also had a chance to write in person with one of the weekend attenders! We will see what happens there. And actually have talked to you, Allie and Karen since the retreat. You all inspire me! I have gone out with some friends to different music venues, and sang out once! I met two very sweet and talented writers and singers on the corner of Main in Franklin outside of Starbuck's. They stopped me because of my retreat shirt! We started talking and I am going to go see them at Lyrix next week. So just still developing my relationships here and writing when I can. I love getting to know everyone better! Today particularly, I need another retreat!
Blessings
Ericka
